Your child’s christening day is a huge event for your family. Everyone comes together to celebrate the life and faith of your new baby, and it’s one of those rare occasions when you get to have all of your closest family and friends all in one place. With such things in mind, choosing the perfect christening venue in Sydney is no easy task! With a seemingly infinite number of restaurants, function centres, clubs and cafes to choose from, it’s hard to know where to begin. We’ve photographed many christenings and baptisms over the years and have visited some fantastic reception venues all over Sydney. We’d like to share some of our favourites with you to help narrow down your list. Each of these venues offer something unique, whether it be classic detailing, fresh, modern interiors or a wonderful water view. They all offer wonderful options for christening photography as well!

Oliveto Ristorante in Rhodes

Oliveto Ristorante & Bar is located in Brays Bay Reserve, along the Parramatta River and is a wonderful christening venue! The river can be seen from the floor to ceiling windows in the clean, modern reception space. Serving modern Italian food, this restaurant offers a set menus for your christening function and will assist with all of your grand decoration ideas! The park area outside the restaurant offers great backdrops for your christening photos and cute images of your baby in their christening gown. There is also a gated playground nearby should the older kids need to run off all that delicious cake they’ve been eating! 

Centennial Homestead in Centennial Park

We love the modern, airy feel of Centennial Homestead in Centennial Park! The christenings we have photographed here are always so lovely and bright. The floor to ceiling windows allow a lovely view into the park and the light timber floors and white interior are the perfect canvas for your christening party ideas and decorations. The restaurant will allow decorations to be hung from the ceiling which adds more drama to the decor of the event. Le Montage in Lilyfield

For a larger christening reception venue, Le Montage offers a great space for dining and traditional dancing! The location is great, along the Bay Run with views of the Iron Cove Bay. The five function rooms can be decorated in a variety of ways to suit your taste, from classic to dramatic. They specialise in functions, and seem to be very expert at running them with precision and elegance. Options for christening photography are also great, with water backdrops or by using the nearby parkland and trees.

Bianco Restaurant in Brighton-Le-Sands

Bianco Restaurant in Brighton-Le-Sands is all about christening receptions and events. Located on Botany Bay, this restaurant offers a cozy, yet modern setting with stone feature walls and pendant lighting, as well as a glass front that overlooks the bay. This christening venue is very adaptable and accommodating to your christening party decoration ideas; one recent reception we photographed at Bianco had hundreds of pink ribbons hanging from the ceiling! The Italian cuisine is also very delicious!

Clarence House in Belmore

Clarence House in Belmore is a glitzy, glamorous christening venue that caters for large numbers. Since they are a function centre, they know how to put on large scale events with precision and ease. Offering two different function rooms to choose from, you have the ability to style the venue to your taste. We make use of the dramatic indoor lighting and backdrops for your christening photos and family portraits.

Deckhouse in Woolwich

Deckhouse in Woolwich is a simple, lovely venue for christening and baptism receptions, which focuses on the view of Sydney harbour and delectable, gourmet food. The venue can cater for a range of group sizes, and the deck and terrace areas offer plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We also love the location - Woolwich is one of those beautiful old neighbourhoods in Sydney with heritage homes and a little known park, Clarkes Point Reserve, which has magnificent views of the Harbour Bridge.

Dunbar House in Watsons Bay

Dunbar House in Watsons Bay is a classic, beautiful venue for your christening reception! With charming heritage decor, gourmet food and amazing views, it’s definitely one of the finest locations for your event. We love the way that the sash windows frame the event space and provide the perfect backdrop for photos of the christening cake. The balcony and grounds in front of Dunbar House are lovely spots to take photos with your baby and family.

Ecco Ristorante in Drummoyne

Ecco Ristorante in Drummoyne offers a lovely, modern space with a deck and panoramic views over Sydney harbour, perfect for an intimate christening reception. We love the crisp white tablecloths and amazing Italian food on offer at this christening venue. There is a small beach and park beside the restaurant which offers a unique combination of settings for your baptism images. As an added bonus, Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre is just around the corner, if your guests fancy a bit of shopping after your reception ;)

Sergeants Mess in Mosman

Sergeants Mess in Mosman is the epitome of classy. This sleek christening venue offers an amazing wrap around deck with extensive views over Port Jackson and the Sydney harbour. We love that the venue is slightly secluded, giving you that ‘away from it all’ feel. The surrounding parks and viewpoints are also wonderful for christening photos.  The only downside is the parking, which can be a bit tricky (and expensive!). 

Oatlands House in Oatlands

Oatlands House in Oatlands has a charming country atmosphere, sounded by trees and parkland, making it a perfect christening venue! There are 6 reception venue spaces to choose from. Being part of the Navarra Venues group, like Le Montage, they focus only on christening events and weddings, and provide top notch service. We like the Deck Room in particular, with its wall of windows and garden views.
